President’s Letter

Dear Brookwood members:

Another pool season is almost upon us! I am so excited, as I am sure you are! The purpose of this email is to make contact with our members and to let you know what is in store this season.

We have scheduled two cleanup dates, April 28th and May 12th, both days starting work at 9 a.m. If you are available, please come on out and help get our pool ready to open, which will happen on Saturday, May 26th.

As for staff this year, we are very pleased to announce that Bethany Little will be our Pool Manager, and that many of our lifeguards from last summer are returning. Bethany has been at Brookwood Pool for years, swimming on our swimteam, working as a swim team coach and as a lifeguard. She will bring a lot of experience to the table as our Pool Manager, and will also be a familiar face to many of you. As for our swim team, we have four excellent coaches to guide our Barracudas. Amy Cujas, who has been an assistant coach for the last several years, as well as one of our great swimmers, will be our head coach. Palmer Benson will be our assistant coach. This is Palmer’s first year with us, but her reputation as an excellent swimmer and as someone who will be a great coach precedes her. Sarah Sipe and Caroline Hazelbaker will coach our six and unders, and they are both very excited about taking on this role and working with our young swimmers. From our manager to our coaches to our guards, we are very fortunate to have such quality people working at our pool and guiding our swim team!

Our membership fee this year is $375.00 (which is the same as last year). I have attached a membership form to this email. Please take the time to print the form, fill it in and send it back to P.O. Box 863, Clemmons, NC 27012, along with your check payable to Brookwood Pool. This form and the membership fee needs to be returned by May 14th. After May 14th, membership will be opened up to the public. I have also attached a swim team application. The fee for participating on swim team is $50.00 for one swimmer, $90.00 for two swimmers from the same family, and $125.00 if there are three or more swimmers from the same family. Please print this form, fill it out fully and send it to the P.O. Box address set out above along with the appropriate fee. Please note that swim team practice is scheduled to start on Monday, May 14th, with 10 year olds and younger children practicing from 5:30 until 6:30, and 11 year olds and up practicing from 6:30 until 7:30. Our first swim meet will be against Forsyth Country Club on June 12th. The complete schedule, as well as other pertinent pool information is posted on our website (we are in the process of updating the information on the website, and it will hopefully all be current by the end of the week).

Please let me note one change with pool hours that differs from previous years. Once school starts back in August, the pool will just be open on the weekends. This is due to the fact that there was extremely little usage of the pool during the weekdays once school started back.

Again, I am excited about the 2012 Brookwood Pool season, as I hope you are. I look forward to seeing you all at the pool this summer. Have a great day!
